Celestial DigitsKundli Milan — also known as Guna Milan, Horoscope Matching, or Ashtakoot Milan — is a time-honored Vedic astrology practice used to evaluate the compatibility of two people before marriage. For centuries, families across India have relied on this system to assess whether a couple is well-suited for a harmonious and prosperous married life.
The system compares the birth charts of both partners across eight distinct categories (Ashtakoot), each examining a different dimension of compatibility — from spiritual alignment and physical chemistry to emotional temperament and health factors. The total score out of 36 Gunas provides a comprehensive picture of the relationship's potential.
Spiritual compatibility and ego levels between partners
Mutual attraction, influence, and control dynamics
Birth star compatibility and destined fortune together
Physical and intimate compatibility between partners
Mental compatibility based on Moon sign planetary lords
Temperament match — Deva, Manushya, or Rakshasa nature
Emotional love, family welfare, and financial prosperity
Health compatibility, genetic factors, and progeny welfare
Total: 36 Gunas · 18+ is acceptable · 24+ is good · 32+ is excellent
Enter the birth details for both the bride and groom — including full name, date of birth, exact time of birth, and birthplace. Our system calculates the Moon's nakshatra and pada for each person using Swiss Ephemeris astronomical data, then evaluates all 8 Ashtakoot categories to produce a detailed matchmaking report with individual Guna scores, overall compatibility assessment, and Manglik Dosha analysis.
Kundli Milan, also known as Guna Milan or Ashtakoot Milan, is the traditional Vedic method of assessing marriage compatibility. It compares the birth charts (Kundalis) of the bride and groom across 8 categories (Ashtakoot) totaling 36 points (Gunas). A higher score indicates better compatibility for a harmonious married life.
Traditionally, a score of 18 or above out of 36 is considered acceptable for marriage. Scores between 24-32 are considered very good, and above 32 is considered excellent. However, the individual Guna scores matter too — for instance, a Nadi Dosha (0 in Nadi) is considered serious even if the total score is high.
Manglik Dosha occurs when Mars (Mangal) is placed in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house from the Lagna (Ascendant) or Moon in either partner's chart. It is believed to bring challenges in married life. Our report checks both charts for Manglik status and provides traditional remedies if detected.
Nadi carries 8 points — the highest among all Gunas — because it relates to health compatibility and progeny welfare. There are three Nadi types: Aadi (Vata), Madhya (Pitta), and Antya (Kapha). When both partners share the same Nadi, it's called Nadi Dosha, which traditional astrology considers a significant concern for the health of offspring.
Yes, accurate birth times and birthplaces for both the bride and groom are essential. The Kundli Milan calculation depends on the precise Moon position (nakshatra and pada) at the time of birth, which shifts throughout the day. Inaccurate times can lead to incorrect nakshatra determination and unreliable results.
